2008 National Seminar

The Australian Ju-Jitsu Association Inc. hereby notifies all of its members the next National Seminar will be held on 11 & 12th October,2008 at the home of the Sydney Olympic Games in Sydney Olympic Park ((SOP) at Homebush NSW. This venue is not allowed to have any more than 200 persons so your early commitment is necessary.

These are the only dates available to our Association, as Judo Australia have first preference at all times and have the hall booked for the following 2 weekends.

SYDNEY RAIL TIMETABLE

We suggest you log onto the internet as it gets closer to the time and look at the time tables for a train going from the airport to Sydney Central Station and then check for trains to Olympic Park.

It is suggested for those of you flying into Sydney to catch the Airport train to Sydney City and then catch the Rivercat Ferry for a pleasant water trip to Olympic Park.

Those of you who will be driving in from the metropolitan/country area of Sydney be advised there are many car parking stations at Olympic Park and charge a flat rate of $15.00 per day.

***ALL Train & Ferry times must be checked closer to seminar dates.

Motels at present in Olympic Park are the Ibis and Novotel and are within walking distance of the hall we will be using. There will be more motels during this year and they will be the Sofitel and Formula 1. At present we have no idea when they will be completed but we can say the Sofitel (next door to the Ibis) is well and truly under construction.

With regard to air travel and for those of you having a computer, we would suggest you go to the Qantas and Virgin site and subscribe to their free Newsletter. These two airlines will send you notification of cheap airfares at regular periods.

All guests are to book directly through the reservations department on 02 8762 1260 and are to quote the Associations' Group Code (JU 111008) whilst making the booking and ensure you mention the Australian Ju-Jitsu Association Inc. Please be very clear regarding what type of room you require (Double, twin. twin with extra bed)and how many persons will be in the room. The above rates are for the dates stipulated above and any dates outside these will be decided by the hotel. All rooms are based on availability and cannot be guaranteed.

It would be greatly appreciated if those persons booking accommodation advise the National Secretary when you have done so and the type of room you booked.

On the Ibis Reception area floor is the Arena Restaurant and Wine Bar

POINTS WORTH NOTING

Under the Ibis/Novotel Hotel at street level facing Dawn Fraser Avenue, you will find Muffin Break, McDonalds, Subway, Gloria Jean Coffee and the Brewery. Most of the establishments close at 9pm. By going down 1 level from reception you can access these eateries by a frosted side door and your room key will allow you to open the outside door to gain entry. The Brewery offers casual al fresco dining and drinks.
More importantly the ladies will also see a Direct Factory Outlet (DFO) marked on the map.
Car parking is available throughout the SOP and it is suggested you use Carpark 1 or the open carpark next to it, as it is the closest to the Dojo. All car parks are metered throughout the SOP. We are unsure of what car parks are open during the weekend.
